ALERT STATUS: Yellow
INFORMATION TYPE: Problem Reference
README FOR:
tcp41b.exe; 439880 bytes; Date/Time: 02-09-96/5:19p
NOVELL PRODUCT CLASS:
Internetworking
NetWare OS
NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION:
NetWare MultiProtocol Router 3.0
NetWare 4.1
ABSTRACT:
TCP41B.EXE contains two versions of TCPIP:
- TCPIP.NLM 3.0h, which is to be applied ONLY to NetWare 4.10
servers.
- TCPIP.NLM 3.0f, which is to be applied ONLY to NetWare 3.12
servers running MultiProtocol 3.
If you fit either of those categories, and use TCP/IP, TCP41B.EXE
is a recommended download.
If you do not fit the categories, do NOT download this patch!
In the required environments, TCP41B.EXE resolves various issues
with TCP/IP as well as bootp forwarding.

SYMPTOM
Symptoms Corrected by TCP/IP 3.h only.
--------------------------------------
1. Failure of OSPF
unnumbered WAN links to recover when physically switching ports.
2. Low Cache Buffers and lost ECBs.
3. Abend when attempting to
bind to more than 32 TCP/IP connections.
4. Abend when bootpfwd
received packets with mac-addresses greater than 10 bytes.
Symptoms Corrected by both TCP/IP 3.f and 3.h.
---------------------------------------------
5. An abend when
TCP/IP header compression was enabled on media that does not
support header compression. NOTE: TCP/IP header compression is
supported only on PPP.
6. TCP/IP directed broadcasts forwarded
in only one direction.
7. Intermittent abends, when CALLMGR was
used to bring up an on-demand IP call.
8. A page fault if a TCP
or UDP stream was aborted, while data was in transmission.
New
Feature provided by both TCP/IP 3.f and 3.h
-----------------------------------------------
The maximum
number of "TCP Connections Requests" held in the Socket Queue
to
be processed, has been increased from 5 to 32. In addition, if
the Socket Queue contains 32 "TCP Connections Requests"
additional Requests will not be rejected. Instead, the remote
node will be required to resend the connection request. (By that
time, some of the earlier requests in the queue will be
processed, and the newly resent request will be accepted.) This
will benefit TCP applications running heavy traffic.
