21 January 1994 THE ISRAEL INFORMATION SERVICE The experimental Israel Information Service Gopher has just opened. The Israel Information Service is part of the Information Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem. The IIS is now just beginning to make its material available to the INTERNET public. We plan to do this in four formats: I. IIS Gopher - Presenting material and documents from Israeli official and government sources. This service is now opening on an experimental basis. Structure of the Israeli Government 2. Selected Documents in French and Spanish 3. Israel-Arab Relations - From War to Peace a. Madrid Peace Process (Texts, Statements & Documents) b. Israel-Arab Relations - Basic Documents c. Israel and the Territories - Issues and Answers 4. Domestic and Diplomatic Issues a. R&D in Israel b. Environment in Israel c. Higher Education in Israel d. Israeli Economic Information e. Diplomatic Ties and International Cooperation f. Israeline - Daily Israeli Press Summaries 5. Maps and Pictures - Graphic Files II. IIS Listserver - Includes a number of lists for Israeli media updates and government announcements. This service will begin operation in the near future. III. ISS E-Mail - The IIS will attempt to provide information in response to user queries on all subjects regarding Israel. ISS FTP Archives - This archive will contain government documents, maps and pictures for public use. This service is not yet operational. At present, this is only an experimental service.
