Annoucing University of Montana Student Health Services HEALTHLINE Gopher Server [NOTE: Healthline is at selway.umt.edu port 700 (NOT 70!! as is currently listed at the U Minn list of Gophers and at NIH and a few other places). If you copy your list of servers from U Minn, hopefully this will be fixed in the next day or two)]. Is the high-fiber theory just another dietary fad? Do you have trouble sleeping? Suffer from migraine headaches? Interested in learning more about the proposed Clinton Health Care Plan? Are you concerned about proper labeling and advertising of food/health products? What steps should you take before, during, and after a natural disaster? Interested in Electronic Books for the Blind and other similar projects? The answer to these questions and much more are available through the University of Montana Student Health Services HEALTHLINE Gopher program. The goal of Healthline is to offer (electronically) many of the same types of information that you'd receive by going to any university health center...and then some. It's NOT designed to replace face-to-face consultation with a doctor or counselor, but to assist in learning and understanding topics of general health/medical interest. Healthline not only includes "traditional" topics of physical and mental health (sexuality, drug & alcohol information, academic tips and dietary facts), but also pointers to information for the disabled, information about the effect of computers on health, health-related USENET newsgroups, various "Extension Service" Gophers, environmental health and safety issues, and health-related information provided via U.S. Federal Agencies. Healthline does not cover advanced medical research sources...CAMIS does a good job of that ;-) I'm interested in hearing from any other general health information providers, especially other university health centers that provide similar "tip sheets" electronically. -- John-David Childs Senior Consultant, University of Montana CIS UM Student Health Service HEALTHLINE Gopher Admin jdc@selway.umt.edu, con_jdc@lewis.umt.edu Here's a PARTIAL Jughead listing of what's available: Gopher root is [selway.umt.edu] port = 700 About the Student Health Services HEALTHLINE Gopher.
