ANIMA - Arts Network for Integrated Media Applications The WebWeavers presents the premiere of the public version of 'ANIMA - Arts Network for Integrated Media Applications'. The ANIMA information service provides a network source for information focusing on the intersection of arts, technology and media. ANIMA is a newly available multimedia cultural information service now distributed over the World Wide Web global hypertext network. ANIMA provides online access to cultural theory and expression, ideas and research. ANIMA explores the possibilites of networking as an information resource and tool for research in art and technology, the development of virtual communities for creative collaboration, and the network as a medium for artistic exploration and expression. Currently available ANIMA features includes ArtWorld: a service centre for the arts online; Spectrum, a selection of electronic publications, NEXUS: an online gallery space for artists projects; ATLAS a reference library on art and technology, Sphere: a journal for communications theory; Techne: research on media tools and techniques; Virtuality: the impact on the interface of interactivity and immersion; and Persona: a community forum for empowering voice and vision on the net. Many new features will be released over the upcoming weeks on a regular basis. ANIMA is being unveiled at an exhibition featuring a public art installation using the World Wide Web on the InterNet, being shown at 'Connections' at Design Week '94. Running through March 13th at the Concourse Gallery of the Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Granville Island, Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
