GenServ Disclaimer For ALL Genealogical data stored on the GenServ system 1 August 1997 Read this Carefully The data and documents on this system are the responsibility of individual authors of the GEDCOM files. The GEDCOM files here are not policed for content by the operators of the GenServ System. The data on this system does not belong to GenServ - it belongs to the author of the GEDCOM file. We DO NOT EDIT, or DELETE any part of the data sent to us - nor do we scan it or check the accuracy of it. We do attempt to load it as received. If anyone seeing it has a problem with it contact the submitter of the data, and discuss your problems with that person. It is the responsibility of individual GEDCOM data providers to comply with all applicable laws and standards (in their own state or country) of what should or should not be published in their own GEDCOM files. We do not take any responsibility in any way for the contents of the datafiles or contacts in them. Some policy must be set - and this is it. The submitter of the data is totally responsible for contents of their own data on this system. We do allow other submitters of the GenServ system to request reports which will have the submitters name and address appended to the report they receive. Only subscribers and those who have donated a GEDCOM file will have access to the submitter info on this system. Please contact the owner of the GEDCOM file if you have a problem or question about the their data on this system. We are not responsible for the data or its contents. * Some specific items to note about GenServ operation: * We do not sell or give away subscriber/membership addresses. We have not sold and will not sell any of the data of this system or make it available on CD for sale to anyone. * Subscriber addresses are available via special report (rv3) to subscribers only. * We do not allow downloading of GEDCOM datafiles, but do allow access to all the data in them through special requests sent to the server by members of this system. * The data on the system belongs to the Subscriber / Member / User who sent it to me, and they are responsible for content of their GEDCOM datafile(s). * The GenServ System is a collection point or clearing house for GEDCOM datafiles, and only those subscribers/members who send us a GEDCOM datafile will have access to this system. Please NOTE this about our GenServ System. GenServ has never accepted credit card payment for any service via a web page or any other way. In the past the GenServ GenSearch ONE-TIME free search has always been given at No Cost. We are not connected in any way to GENSEARCH, a company which advertises and does business on the Web. If you have given money to any company via a credit card and do not receive the product, contact your bank or credit card company. You have a recourse. You do not have to lose your money. Do it before you pay the bill. During the week of 9 June - I will be changing the name of my FREE one-time GenSearch to "GenSample". After all it is a real sample of the data we have here on the GenServ system. During the early part of 1997 we have had two short periods of time when the GenServ system was down. If and when this happens again we we attempt to notify the subscribers of this system. If you send a message request to the GenServ address, and your message bounces back to you - that is the first indication to you that the path to our server has a problem, our ISP, or our server has a problem. You do not need to send us a message to notify us. We are working on it, and trying to fix the problem. Service to you is our first priority. * Please check on the homepage just above where it says "Subscriber Locations across the United States" for a redbar (Server Down) or a greenbar (Server Operational) with the words "GenServ System". The GenServ System was up 98%+ of the time in 1995-1996. Best to you with your research. The GenServ Management. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- * If any questions, please send me a note, but first read all the GenServ documentation. We think our documentation file covers about everything you might ask Cliff Manis ADMIN@genserv.com Any comments are welcome and will be appreciated.
