If no text is selected (highlighted): The editing function operates in a context sensitive manner based on the current insertion point (example, tabs, fonts) B. If a portion of the text has been selected, the function only operates on the selected area C. Highlighting techniques -drag mouse and select text -use the Quick Menu in the margin (click with right mouse button in the margin) to select portions/all text -click two times on a word to select the word -click three times anywhere in a sentence to select the sentence -click four times anywhere in a paragraph to select the paragraph -use or -double click on Select in the Status Bar and use arrow keys 2. Review of tabs A. Relative tabs: tabs positioned from the left margin (the WP6.0 default) B. Absolute tabs: tabs positioned from the left side of the page C. Types of tabs (page WP94) -left: the left edge of the text is aligned at the tab position -right: the right edge of the text is aligned at the tab position -center: the text is centered at the tab position -decimal: usually used for columns of numbers; text is aligned at the decimal point. -dot leader: inserts a series of dots ALWAYS before the left edge of the text There are four dot leader tabs. -left dot leader: the left edge of the text is aligned at the tab position -right dot leader: the right edge of the text is aligned at the tab position -center dot leader: the text is centered at the tab position -decimal dot leader: usually used for columns of numbers; text is aligned at the decimal point. D. Indent: used to position lines of text one tab to the right. The left edge of the text is aligned with the tab until a hard return is reached. E. Hanging indent: used to position lines of text one tab to the right excluding the first line. The left edge of the text is aligned with the tab until a hard return is reached. 3. Miscellaneous A. Graphic lines Graphics-->Horizontal Line or double click the line to edit, size, or move B. Text Art -Graphics-->Text Art... -choose options in the dialog box C. WordPerfect Characters (bullets, symbols, etc) -Insert-->Character... or -choose a character set (default is Ironic symbols) -double click a character to insert at the insertion point or click on the character and click the Insert button or Insert and Close button D. Undelete: restores any or all of the last three deletions AT THE INSERTION POINT -Edit-->Undelete... -choose Restore to Restore last deletion B. Quick Correct: automatically replace misspelled and mistyped words, correct incorrect capitalization, and expand abbreviations AS YOU TYPE. -Tools-->Quick Correct... 5. Headers and footers A.
