Selecting a range in 1-2-3: most formatting is performed on a selected range (of labels and values) A. Click and drag over labels and numbers to select B. Click the button above the row number 1 and to the left of the column letter A to select the entire worksheet C. Click a Row number or Column letter to select an entire row or column 2. The 1-2-3 quick menus: quick menus are available by clicking with the right mouse button. A. The current cell OR the selected range is affected by the formatting or editing tasks B. Quick menus provide editing operations such as copy, cut, and paste as well as formatting operations such as Number formats, Fonts and Attributes, Lines and Colors, and Alignment. ***Remember: Values are right aligned by default Labels are left aligned by default C. To use a quick menu for formatting: -select the cell or range -click with the right mouse button -choose a format operation; a dialogue box will appear -choose the desired option 3. Using Predefined Formatting A. 1-2-3 provides predefined formatting templates for use on selected ranges or entire worksheets To use a 1-2-3 template: --select the range to be formatted --click Style-->Gallery ; a dialogue box appears --scroll through the various options --click OK 4. Copying the current cell or selected range Option 1: --highlight range --click and point until hand appears; hold down the control key --the hand will turn into a fist with a + -drag across the target cells Option 2: --highlight range -- to copy --click on target cell -- to paste Option 3: --highlight text --click with the right mouse button --click Copy --click on the target cell --click Paste Option 4: --highlight range --Edit-->Copy --click on target cell --Edit-->Paste 5. They can make relationships among numbers easy to see because they turn numbers into shapes (lines, bars, slices of a pie), and the shapes can then be compared to one another. A. 1-2-3 Chart Types (selected) 1. Bar: useful for comparing discrete values from two or more series 2. Line: useful for showing trends in a data series over time 3. Pie: useful for showing the relative contribution of each data point in a single data series B. Creating a 1-2-3 Chart -->Select the range to chart Note: when selecting non-continuous rows, hold down the control key when dragging. -->Choose Tools--> Chart or Click the SmartIcon Chart Button --> Choose the area where you want the chart; click to mark the top left corner of the chart and drag to size the area --> Click on any of the areas in the chart to make formatting changes (i.e., the Title, or axis)
