La283 Section 2: Final Exam Study Guide Spring 1996 ***Final Review Session for Section*** Wednesday, May 1 7:35-10 pm 102 Classroom Building The final is made up of questions about WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows, dBASE III, Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows, and questions from the midterm. Some suggestions for studying: 1. Review all class notes and Hendrickson-Smith lecture notes on the LA283 class page. 2. Review the steps and processes necessary to complete Projects 3-5. 3. Review the assigned readings in the Shelly Cashman series. Test your knowledge with the exercises at the end of each unit. 4. Examine this guide and make sure that you understand all of the points in it. If not, make sure you clarify any questions with Jan. General: -review all questions on the midterm -understand commands and menu items common to all Windows applications -understand the rules used to evaluate arithmetic functions (the order of precedence) WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows -understand WordPerfect anatomy including the Button Bars, Quick menus, the Menu Bar, and the Ruler Bar -be familiar with techniques to move, copy, and transfer information -understand the purpose of hidden (embedded) codes -understand font characteristics -be familiar with the use of graphics in WordPerfect dBASE III -understand the structure and makeup of the various dBASE file types covered during the semester (i.e., dbf, prg, and ndx files) -understand the purpose and importance of a prg (command) file -be familiar with dBASE commands used to create, examine, and modify the data base structure, and to input and examine the data base records -be familiar with the components of a data base structure to include records and fields -understand the function of memory variables Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows -know the 1-2-3 jargon (i.e., cell, range, row, column, etc) -understand 1-2-3 anatomy (i.e., the control panel, status bar, etc) -understand how to work with formulas and functions including the use of absolute and relative cell references (addresses)
