File Transfer Protocol
Page last updated 11-Jun-96
File Transfer Protocol is the primary method by which computer
files are exchanged between computers on the Internet. Many
applications (including WWW) act as front-ends to ftp, making
it appear more user-friendly. Here are a number of links
relevant to the exploration of ftp.
- A good place to start is with the CAC ftp archives
ftp.cac.psu.edu.
- Here is a link to the EFF chapter on
file transfer protocol.
- Here is a link to
ftp sites from Yahoo.
- Here is a link to a very large list of
ftp sites
- The Archie system attempts to cross-reference holdings
of many ftp sites. Here is a link to the Yahoo section on
Archie.
