To LifeLines Users:
 
 
I know that many, many of you have access to FTP, and we will be
updating the "QUICKREF" file, several times a month, and the latest
version of it will always be stored as a file on the LISTSERV.
 
for those of you who do not have FTP access, or do not not want
to use it......please read on.
 
This is an area just like GENEALOG on the ROOTS-L mailing list
and all the files will be uploaded by me.
 
As updates are made to the LifeLines genealogical database, Tom will
update the QUICKREF file and mail it to me, and I will upload it
to the LINES-L area.
 
The area name is "LIFELINE"  on the LINES-L area of LISTSERV.
 
To request a file from the LIFELINE area, you may send the
following one-line message to:  LISTSERV@vm1.nodak.edu
 
GET LIFELINE QUICKREF
 
 
 
and

 On a DEC VAX VMS system you can use the send command.

 LINES-L Files are also available by anonymous FTP for users on the
 Internet.  FTP to VM1.NODAK.EDU (134.129.111.1) with userid
 anonymous and your e-mail address as the password.  Then enter
 CD LINES-L  to access the LINES-L disk.  You may use  DIR to
 list files in various groups,  Eg.  DIR LIFELINE   and GET to
 retrieve the data,  Eg.  GET QUICKREF
 Please Note:  LISTSERV expects the two parts of the file name
 to be separated with a space while FTP uses a period (.).
