READ.ME alias CACBACKB.TXT CMS/HDK - 11/11/93 CACBACKB: MS-DOS/PC-DOS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Prerequisites: DOS 4.0 or above; 1M RAM, 4M free fixed disk space; Adequate free DOS Environment space. (We suggest that you make ABSOLUTELY SURE that your CONFIG.SYS file has a line like: SHELL=COMMAND.COM /E:1024 /P If you still run out of environment space, make the environment space in CONFIG.SYS larger than 1024, reboot, and do this INSTALL process again. There are three ways you might have obtained CACBACKB; so there are three companion installation procedures I through III below. I) You downloaded CACBACKB.EXE from the file /pub/access/dos/cacbackb.exe on the CAC FTP server, FTP.CAC.PSU.EDU, to some DOS subdirectory, say the root directory file C:\CACBACKB.EXE. So issue the DOS commands: C: {set DOS initial path to fixed disk} CD C:\ {set initial path to root directory} MD C:\TTT {make a temporary subdirectory} CACBACKB.EXE C:\TTT\ {unload installation routines to it} CD C:\TTT {and set initial path to it} INSTALL {do the install} After install is complete, optionally erase unneeded files by issuing: ERASE C:\CACBACKB.EXE ERASE C:\TTT\*.* RD C:\TTT If you downloaded CACBACKB.EXE to a 1.44M diskette instead of C:\, then that diskette has only the file CACBACKB.EXE on it. In this case insert that diskette in drive, say A:, and substitute the command A:\CACBACKB.EXE C:\TTT\ in the fourth command above. The rest of the procedure remains the same. II) You obtained CACBACKB on a 1.44M diskette and it contains the file INSTALL.BAT, Insert this diskette in drive A: (for example), and issue the following DOS commands: A: CD \ INSTALL For this option to work the diskette in drive A: (in this example) must have the files INSTALL.BAT, ASK.COM, ANSWER.COM, CHANGE.COM and CACBACKB.ZIP on it. III) You obtained CACBACKB on several diskettes (e.g., up to four or five 360K disketttes). In this case insert THE HIGHEST NUMBERED diskette in drive A: (for example) and issue the following DOS commands: A: CD \ INSTALL You will then be prompted to insert each diskette in order beginning with diskette #1. After installation is complete via one of (I) through (III) above, follow the instructions displayed to run the CUSTOM command.
